Ear Care Resources for South Devon Clients

Ear wax – also called cerumen – is a natural and healthy part of how your ears work.  it is a long held belief that ear wax is dirty, but the truth is that it plays several important roles in protecting your ears :-

It acts as a natural barrier, trapping dust, bacteria and small particles within it.

Its slightly acidic, antimicrobial nature helps keep the ear canal clean and balanced.

It lubricates the ear canal preventing dryness and irritations.

It is self cleaning – most ears clean themselves without any assistance.

At all cost, avoid putting any blunt objects such as ear buds, car keys or hair grips into your ear canal as this may cause serious trauma to the canal, cause infection, impact the wax further down the canal or even perforate the delicate ear drum.
